When to Consider Medication
I am often consulted with by non-prescribing psychotherapist colleagues regarding when to refer potential clients for medication consultation. You may have had some gains in psychotherapy with the skills you have learned and practiced along the way but find that you are still struggling.
When is medication appropriate?
Clinical signs that may indicate a medication consultation includes persistent decreased energy, lack of motivation despite best efforts, persistently depressed or anxious mood, and mood swings that have minimally resolved despite best efforts.
